Privacy policy

In short: the app collects nothing about how you use it, and your designs stay on your PC. To sell and activate keys we keep your email address and the PCs your key is activated on.

Plaque Designer is a desktop app by Laser Creations Shop LLC for laying out laser-cut plaques. This page explains what the app, this website (plaquedesigner.com) and our licence key server do with information about you.

What the app collects

The app has no customer accounts and shows no ads. It sends no usage statistics, crash reports or information about your designs to Laser Creations Shop or to anyone else. The only things it sends are listed below: the licence check, the shared logo library, and the logo requests and problem reports you choose to send.

Your designs and your files

Plaques, projects, exports, settings and the logos and pictures you add yourself stay on your computer, in the folders you choose. The app never uploads them. If you keep your logo library in a cloud folder (such as Google Drive or OneDrive), that service syncs it under its own terms; the app only reads and writes the folder on your computer.

The app keeps an error log on your computer. It is never sent anywhere unless you email it to us yourself.

Buying a licence key

You pay on a checkout page run by Stripe, Inc. Stripe collects your payment details and handles them under its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy). We never see or store your full card number.

From Stripe we receive your email address and whether the payment went through and your name, billing country and postal code. We keep your email address with your licence key so we can email you the key, send it again when you ask, and help you if something goes wrong. We send these emails through Resend.

Activating the app and check-ins

When you enter your key, and when the app checks in now and then, it sends our key server:

  • your licence key,
  • a machine ID: an identifier the app makes for that PC, so a key can be used on up to 3 PCs,
  • the PC's name, so you can tell your PCs apart,
  • the app version.

The key server keeps these with your key, with the dates of activation and the last check-in, for as long as the key exists. When you deactivate a PC, its record stays on file, marked as deactivated with the date, so we can help you if you ask about your PCs; it no longer counts toward your 3 PCs.

When you start the free trial, the app sends our key server the email address you typed, the machine ID, the PC's name, the app version, and whether you ticked the box to hear from us about news and updates. We use the email to manage trials and, only if you ticked the box, to write to you about the app.

While the free trial is ending (2 days or fewer left) or has ended, the app asks our key server whether we extended your trial, sending the email you started the trial with, the same machine ID and the app's version.

Logo requests and problem reports

When you use Request a logo… or Report a problem with this logo… and click Send, the app sends our key server what you wrote, the email address you typed (if any), the logo the report is about (its name, branch, category and file name), the same machine ID as above, your PC's name and the app's version. We keep it on our server to work through the requests, and it is emailed to us. We use your email only to answer you about it. Nothing is sent unless you click Send.

The shared logo library

When your computer is online, the app checks for logo artwork that Laser Creations Shop publishes for all users (when it starts, every 15 minutes while it is open, when you come back to its window, and when you ask it to) and downloads it from https://logos.usamilitaryplaque.com/. Cloudflare, Inc., our hosting provider, stores these files and serves them at that address.

Like any website, Cloudflare receives your computer's IP address and the technical details every request carries (such as the app's version and the version of Windows) in order to deliver the files. The app sends nothing else with these checks and downloads: no name, no account, no information about your designs. We do not keep our own logs of these downloads. Cloudflare may keep its own standard network logs under its privacy policy.

The logos and pictures you add to your own library stay on your computer: the app never uploads them to the shared library or anywhere else. Only Laser Creations Shop publishes logos to the shared library.

This website

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages). Like any website, it receives your IP address and the technical details your browser sends with each request; Cloudflare handles these as described in its privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

The website sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. When you click Buy, it asks our key server for a Stripe checkout page. When you use the "send my key again" form, the email address you type is sent to our key server, which emails the key only to an address that bought one.

The Microsoft Store

If you get the app from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles the download and updates under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Microsoft may show us summary reports about the app, such as how many people installed it.

Who we share information with

Only the services named on this page, and only to sell, deliver and activate your key: Stripe (payment), Cloudflare (hosting) and Resend (emails). We don't sell your information.

Your choices

You can ask us what we keep about you, or ask us to delete it, by email. If you ask us to delete your record, we remove your email address and name. Your key is then revoked, because we can no longer tie it to a purchase or send it again.

Changes

If the app, the website or the key server changes how it handles information, we update this page first and change the date at the top.
